Welcome, aspiring actors, to Neopolis - the place where everything happens (according to people who live in Neopolis).

Neopolis is a bustling art-deco city known far and wide as the screen capital of the world; if you want to act, direct, or produce your screenplays, you come here to get it done, with every resource you could imagine at your disposal. Despite the distinct style of Neopolis, both magic and technology work in harmony to create a hub that could rival even the most futuristic of cities.

Inhabitants of all shapes and sizes flock to the giant, bustling studios to play their part in movies, shows, and practically any sort of media you could imagine -and your character is one of those people making it happen.

FAQ

-This fake TDM is an alternate universe, where you make up a backstory for your character as an actor who is playing out their own canon (as a show, movie, etc). Maybe it actually happened to them, or maybe it's totally fictional! Go nuts.

- Superpowers and magic are real and used for special effects and to make filming more realistic (sometimes precarious). There have also been scandals about this exact thing. Functionally this means no depowering, no need to make your character mundane.

- Nonhuman characters remain nonhuman. Sure, your dragon/giant robot/alien/smaller robot can be an actor and have a day job, why not?

-For the purposes of alien life, interstellar communication is possible for sharing media across planets. Traveling to another planet to film is less common, but there are certainly media capitals on other planets too!

1. ON THE CLOCK

The grind never stops for an actor! Whether you're being turfed out at the crack of dawn to get ready for your shoot, being shaken awake on your trailer on the set, or nervously waiting in line to audition for an open casting call, you're just one of many getting on stage to play their roles, no matter what they might be.

But no matter what the genre - death-defying horror, passionate dramas, heart-pounding action, torrid romance and so much more - you'll always have to deal with not just other actors, but the hazards and demands of the stage. Maybe the director is a tyrant, the script is awful, or your co-star is making your life a nightmare. Maybe the biopic they're filming is of your life and they're messing it up.

Or maybe you're just having a great day on set and everything is fine. There's room for all of that here!

2. I'LL BE IN MY TRAILER

One cannot run on acting alone, and that holds true for anyone whether they command potentially universe-cracking powers or not. After a tough session of shooting, it's time for a break - some time to catch your breath, get something to eat, and generally mingle with your costars and crew (or hide in a corner somewhere so you can recover your composure).

Maybe you've volunteered to go out and get lunch or drinks for everybody so you can get some fresh air. Maybe you've just seen a crew member leaving in tears. Maybe you need to just lie down and recover from that incredibly exhausting stuntwork you just did. But, regardless, this is downtime - no matter how you choose to spend it.

3. LIFE ON THE OUTSIDE

After the lights go down and the cameras stop rolling for the day, it's time to depart into Neopolis proper. Do you just go home and faceplant into bed for the rest of the night? Go drinking with your coworkers, go for a run, or grab some dinner before you head back for the day? Maybe your shoots are all done in the morning or solely at night, so you can walk around and enjoy the sunshine before you get back to work.

Neopolis is a city of plenty - of trouble and entertainment both. There's always something to get into or take advantage of, especially with the booming trade that the constant stream of entertainment brings in.

Or maybe acting is your passion, and it doesn't pay the bills as much as you'd like; one has to make ends meet somehow. While you're waiting for your next big break, you might be working another job - somewhere that you might see your fellow actors, in fact.

The city is your oyster - perhaps even the world. Work requires some sacrifice, especially if your home is far away from Neopolis.

4. WILDCARD

Anything else!

Maybe you're saddled with a terrible sponsorship deal as a toothpaste mascot or having to perform in insurance commercials while you pass time between bigger roles. Maybe you're attending a film festival or a red carpet event, giving interviews, or even opening fan mail in your dressing room!

Or maybe you have bigger concerns, like actually using your powers to do things that aren't acting. But surely there's nothing like that, right?
